The Supreme Court’s official ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization to overturn Roe v. Wade has drastically changed the reproductive healthcare landscape in this country.
At Upstream, our priority is to continue to serve our health center partners, who share our commitment to ensuring that contraceptive care is patient-centered and free of bias and coercion. We will continue to support them with our training and technical assistance as they navigate this new landscape that is changing and complex.
Now more than ever, health care providers must have access to training and resources that increase true access to the full range of contraceptive care, reduce stigma and provide comprehensive, equity-rooted care. We are proud of the impact we have made so far together, and we are more committed than ever to deepening and growing that impact all across the country. As one OB-GYN shared with us recently, “Contraceptive care has always been important, but never more important than right now.”
We have already shifted the way we deliver our work to reach new partners seeking to improve contraceptive care across our core states and beyond, including new projects in Texas, Mississippi, and Missouri. This is one way we can help.
And finally, to our health center partners, as Siobhan Shand, our Chief Program Officer recently shared: Thank you for everything you do to serve your patients and communities. If there is a specific way that we can support you and your health center, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are committed to working alongside you and supporting you through this time and beyond.
