Welcome to Our Newest Board Member

We are excited to share that First Lady of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Lauren Schadt Baker, joined Upstream’s Board of Directors in December. Lauren shares our commitment to reducing unintended pregnancy and she is no stranger to Upstream, having served on our Massachusetts Advisory Council since 2020.

I am thrilled to join Upstream’s board and be part of this work that is transforming the delivery of patient-centered contraceptive care” said Lauren Baker. “I strongly believe that integrating contraceptive care into the primary care setting will help close persisting gaps in care, and ultimately, expand access to birth control, and strengthen maternal healthcare.”

From founding The Wonderfund to working alongside Massachusetts’ public library system to improving children’s literacy, Lauren has an extensive record working on behalf of children and families. As an Upstream board member, she will have numerous opportunities to further these passions at a national level, advising us on how we can grow and improve our programs to make sure more people of reproductive age have access to the unbiased counseling and best-in-class health care they need to decide if and when they want to start a family, a critical step towards improving outcomes for parents and children.

We look forward to the wealth of knowledge and expertise that Lauren brings to our Board of Directors and she has already hit the ground running since joining late last year. To learn more about Lauren and her professional experience, please review her bio here.
